Beyonce's Local Pastor Reflects on His Friendship with the Star
The Pastor who watched songstress Beyonce Knowles grow up in the pews of his church is speaking out to 39 news.
"She's just in terms of a person you can imagine with as busy as her schedule is that she would make time during this tour to make sure hungry people are fed" said Pastor Rudy of St. John's Downtown Church.
Knowles, who made a tour stop in Houston on July 4th keeps in touch with her Pastor. Her family regularly attends church with him when they're in town.
"She told me one day you know, Pastor Rudy, one day when I make it I'm not gonna forget this church" said Pastor Rudy, "and over the years she has honored that promise many times".
Knowles helped fund the Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth in Downtown Houston.
Most recently just next door to the youth center, Knowles funded an apartment complex called the Knowles-Rowland Temenos Place Apartments, for people struggling financially.
On her concert, the singer has paired up with Feeding America, asking concert-goers to donate non-perishable items at the door.
